More Information

Welcome back Pricing People. As we wrap up another remarkable year, let’s look back at how pricing shaped the headlines and influenced the biggest moments of 2024.

In a year where over half the world’s population headed to the polls, uncertainty became the only certainty. This momentous year generated a lot of change and now leaves us even less sure about what 2025 will bring.

The Paris Olympics gave us unforgettable moments – from Snoop Dogg’s turn as the unofficial mascot to Simone Biles’ triumphant return – as well as some we’d rather forget.

Record breakers and backlash

Taylor Swift’s Eras tour smashed records to become the highest-grossing tour of all time, adding ‘billionaire’ to her growing list of accolades. Meanwhile, Oasis showed us how not to handle ticket pricing, with their controversial dynamic pricing model causing such backlash they had to abandon it for their US tour dates.

Wendy’s hit the headlines for trying to introduce Uber-style pricing on it’s burgers. Fast food fans were furious and competitors leapt at the opportunity to take advantage with Burger King trolling Wendy’s with an anti-surge pricing promotion.

In fact, pricing made such waves this year that ‘Dynamic Pricing’ earned a spot on The Oxford English Dictionary’s word of the year shortlist.

So it’s official, pricing is trending and it’s going to stay that way.

Looking ahead to 2025

As we move into a new year, one thing is clear: in a world of continuing uncertainty, pricing technology isn’t just a tool – it’s your competitive edge. The companies that harness its power will be the ones writing tomorrow’s success stories.

That’s all for 2024, pricing people. Wishing you the happiest of holidays, and here’s to an exciting 2025. Keep watching this space for more stories from the wonderful world of pricing.
